 Join Bob Downes, author of Windigo Moon: A Novel of Native America, as he presents a digital-slide talk on “Life in Native America 400 Years Ago.” Dive into his- tory as you learn about the devastating “Lost Century” of the 1500s, and The Wisconsin Death March and what it meant to Native peoples. Discover what we can learn from the Qjibwe to better understand our own society, life through the seasons, and the importance of storytelling.

A resident of Traverse City, Michigan, Downes, 64, is the author of three nonfiction books: “Planet Backpacker” (2008),” Biking Northern Michigan” (2014), and “Travels With My Wife” (2015) and his novel, “Windigo Moon,” (2017).

A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Downes earned a B.A. in journalism from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1976.
