As we get older, our body parts start sagging.  This is true of old building like our History Museum.  This year’s February Special Appeal is going to address the “Sinking Stairway” that comes out of a mandatory fire exit at the front of the building. (Circled above) The two posts are no longer completely supporting the small roof above that exit. We anticipate that the small roof will eventually collapse if the stairway supporting the roof isn’t repaired.
Your donation to this project will add to our Reserve Building Maintenance Fund which we have been accumulating to tackle repairs such as this. Know that your contribution will help preserve a recognized Elk Rapids structure that was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015 and received a Michigan Historic Marker in 2017.
